How to Presell A Course Ethically and Not Feel Icky
Aug 16, 2023People are saying you should pre-sell your course, but you're not sure, right?
Pre-Selling Doesn't Feel Right
Do you hear a lot of people advising you to pre-sell a course and wonder how that logistically works? You might also question if you're comfortable with the concept.
We are told to presell for good reasons, to validate an idea, and see if anyone is actually interested in our course/product. I see Kajabi members sometimes write inside our community that they have created a whole course and no one is buying it, and the comment they always get is 'why did you create the course first?'
However, I don't feel right pre-selling to my audience. I believe that my ideal customers wouldn't appreciate it either. I like to ensure that when someone purchases an offer, they can log in immediately, get excited to start, and feel reassured that they made the right decision.
But I don't have the time to create an entire course before selling it. As a mum, I would just never get it done and I'd never get any offer out there.
A Great In-between
My solution is to create the first module of any course, or in other words, the first step. This way, when someone purchases, they can log in immediately and begin.
Then, I build out the rest of the course week by week, so I'm always one week ahead of my students, and every week, I have a much smaller and more realistic workload with just creating one week's worth of content.
This also ensures that I actually get the work done, because of course, if I have students in the course and they are due a new module on Monday, I am 100% going to get it done, whereas if I waited to have an entire course perfectly finished, it would be on my to-do-list for a year.
This is also very manageable as a workload to get an offer from idea to bringing in sales.
I am going to create an entire separate post on how I quickly create my offers from start to finish. So, pop your name down below on the email list, and you'll be the first to know.
Good luck!
